Terms and Conditions

These are the terms under which Shuut Ltd T/A Story Ceremonies by Ruth operates:

The Business/I/Me/My - Story Ceremonies by Ruth
The Client/You/Your - customers requiring my services
The Service - planning, writing and delivering the ceremony
The Ceremony - any event requiring celebrant services, such as Wedding Celebration Ceremony, Civil Partnership Celebration Ceremony, Commitment Ceremony, Renewal of Vows Ceremony, Naming Ceremony, Re-naming Ceremony, Welcoming Ceremony, Family Blending Ceremony etc.
Signing the booking form means you understand and adhere to the following terms and conditions:
1. Legal status of the Ceremony
The Ceremony conducted has no legal implications for any parties involved. The legal formalities of marriage or civil partnership are not included in the Ceremony.
2. Booking and Payment
a) You agree to engage the services of the Business to write and conduct your ceremony, for the rate agreed based on your service level requirements.
b) A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total rate is payable upon booking to secure your Ceremony date. A second payment of 30% of the total rate is payable on delivery of the approved Ceremony script. The final 50% is payable no later than 4 weeks before the Ceremony date.
c) Payments are accepted by cash or bank transfer.
d) The booking is not accepted and no contract exists until the deposit is received.
e) The Ceremony will not be delivered on the due date unless full payment is received.
f) Alteration to the booking by the Client may incur additional charges.
3. Travel expenses
Travel costs are included for meetings and Ceremonies taking place within 40 miles of my home postcode (B14). Travel beyond this distance will be charged at £0.45 per mile (round trip). I also have bases in the following locations: London (N4), Cambridge (CB24), Brighton (BN3), Yorkshire (BD20), and Wales (SY20). Ceremonies in these areas will incur mileage costs as set out above, but will not incur accommodation costs. Ceremonies that are not within 40 miles of any of my bases will incur accommodation costs. For non-UK destinations, accommodation and flights will be charged at cost.
4. Cancellation or modification by the Business
Every effort will be made to conduct the ceremony in accordance with your requirements, but I reserve the right, at my discretion, to modify or cancel your booking. In that event, I will offer you an alternative or return to you any money you have paid for Services not delivered. No further or additional compensation will be payable.
5. Cancellation by the Client
If the Client cancels the booking after the booking is accepted, or the Ceremony is cancelled due to non-payment of the balance, the deposit and any costs or payments for Services already delivered shall be payable or forfeited.
6. Warranties and liability
I warrant that the Ceremony will be carried out with reasonable care and skill. I will have no liability to the Client in respect of any loss arising from incorrect instructions or booking details given by you or other fault on your part. My entire liability shall be limited to the amount paid by you in respect of the Ceremony. Any Ceremony taking place outdoors must have a weather-safe contingency. I reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking that does not adhere to these conditions. I accept no liability - financial or otherwise - for any Ceremony I have accepted that is cancelled at any point due to environmental factors or any other circumstances beyond my control.
7. Intellectual property
In making the booking, you acknowledge that the copyright and all other intellectual property in respect of the Ceremony and all documentation or other materials used in or relating to the Ceremony belongs to the Business. You are licensed to record the ceremony for personal use and enjoyment, but are not entitled to use it otherwise or publish the whole or any part of the Ceremony or its materials without my express written permission.
8. Privacy and protection of personal data
The Business will retain the personal details electronically in order to create and deliver your Ceremony. By signing the booking form, you are giving your permission for the Business to do this. The Business will never pass your personal details to any third party without your express permission.
